Abstract:
We present an extensive cryptographic analysis of Threema, a Swiss-based encrypted messaging application with more than 10 million users and 7000 corporate customers. The Swiss army, the Swiss government and the German chancellor are among its most prominent users. We discuss some of the attacks we found against the Threema protocols and we draw three wider lessons for developers of secure protocols.
