Description:

Digital identity solutions, such as the EU Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet and the Swiss e-ID, are on the verge of large-scale deployment. Within the next year, hundreds of millions of Europeans will carry digital credentials on their phones to attest diverse attributes, such as their age, education level, or driver’s license, in daily life interactions. While these systems are cryptographically protected, current designs adopt suboptimal trade-offs, most notably sacrificing privacy (unlinkability) for better security or easier deployability.
This project works on closing that gap. It aims to advance the analysis and the design of protocols that are efficient enough to work at the scale national identity infrastructure requires, while providing provable security and privacy guarantees under strong adversarial models.
